In order to get items other than pages into the menu we need to create our own menu using Appearance Menus from the Dashboard.

• Create the menu (call it primary),
• assign it to the menu in the Theme Locations widget
• then add Pages and Categories to the menu,
• drag and drop them into the order you want
• finally choose Save menu.

Note: Only users with Admin authority can control the Theme’s menus.
This may be a bit more tricky than just having pages in the menu but it does give you a lot more control.
